About

We refuse to be one of those families that just sits by and misses and mourns the family member that we lost to this crap that's killing someone every 11 minutes.

The war on drugs has been a massive failure. Which is to be expected when you're relying on bureaucracy to fix something. They've never been able to fix anything anyways.

We're lacing up and strapping up. We're carrying the fight to the streets to snatch people out of their chains. To love on them. To meet them where they're at. To share God's love with them.

Chris's journey is one of profound transformation, shaped by both a solid foundation and deep personal trials. Growing up in a strong Christian home, surrounded by a loving and supportive family, Chris's upbringing might not seem like the typical background for someone who once battled addiction. Yet, his story is a testament to how addiction can impact anyone, regardless of their origins.

As a former drug user, Chris intimately understands the grip of despair and hopelessness that often accompanies that lifestyle. He has felt the devastating toll it takes, not just on the individual but on their loved ones as well. Through his own struggles, Chris has witnessed firsthand the pain, brokenness, and destruction that addiction brings into families and communities.

His resolve to make a difference became even stronger after a personal tragedy struck his family. The loss of his brother to a fentanyl overdose was a heartbreaking wake-up call that fueled his passion to fight against the devastating epidemic of addiction. The tragedy gave him a clear purpose: to turn his pain into action and use his experiences to help others break free from the cycle of addiction.

Chris found inspiration and guidance from Ben and Jess Owen, the founders of We Fight Monsters, a non-profit organization committed to battling addiction and rebuilding lives. Their mission deeply resonated with him, and he became determined to replicate the impactful work they’ve done in Memphis, Tennessee, in his home state of Texas.

Now, as the first person to bring their vision and model to Texas, Chris is dedicated to creating a place where others can find hope, healing, and freedom from addiction. With a deep understanding of the challenges faced by addicts and their families, he works tirelessly to offer resources, support, and a pathway to recovery for those in need. For Chris, this mission is not just a cause—it’s a calling, and a way to honor his brother’s memory while helping others reclaim their lives.

Ben & Jessica Owen

Ben and Jessica Owen are the founders of Flanders Fields, a veteran focused non-profit that aims to tackle the impact of opiate addiction in the veteran population, and We Fight Monsters, a 501c3 combatting the impact of fentanyl and crack addiction while simultaneously battling sex-trafficking in the mid-south.

Ben is a post 9/11 Army veteran and serial entrepreneur, Jessica is a survivor of childhood sexual trauma, and both are addicts/alcoholics in recovery who finally found rock bottom on the tail end of a series of drug-related arrests.  After enduring homelessness together, Ben and Jess found purpose in carrying a message of hope and recovery back to the same streets they nearly died on.

Cutting their teeth during the evacuation out of Afghanistan, running one of the largest networks of safehouses in the operation, they have re-focused their safe house efforts into sober-living houses here domestically - closing down active dope houses and getting the addicts and trafficked women impacted by those houses into detox, treatment, sober living, and eventually enlisting their help in carrying the mission forward to the next man or woman, while renovating the trap houses into recovery homes using labor pulled from the streets.

Today, they work with many of the same agencies, and even judges and prosecutors, that wanted to see them incarcerated, and have forged unexpected alliances with local street gangs, making good guys out of those once-considered "bad" by many.
